Psssst........for some cool pit bull links, scroll to the bottom! Pit Bulls  Punish the deed, not the breed!  As many of you know (or for those of you who didn't), I am a huge lover and defender of Pit Bulls. People often judge them because of their breed, but to me this is dog racism. Any dog could be a vicious dog. Any dog could attack someone. A dog's behavior has a lot to do with how it's raised. If it's raised to fight and be a guard dog, then why do we blame it when it attacks someone? It's just doing all it knows how to do. But when raised in loving homes, Pit Bulls can be just as loving and loyal as any other breed. I have known many Pit Bulls in my lifetime and they've ALL been big babies. My little Dozer is proof of that... there's not an aggressive bone in his body! If anything he's a big chicken! Did you know some cities have banned people from owning pit bulls? This is called Breed Specific Legislation, or BSL for short. Unfortunately, BSL is becoming more and more common, due to the stereotype that pit bulls are "vicious man-eaters" and only know how to do one thing - fight and kill. We need to fight BSL and show this country that pit bulls are not the blood-thirsty killers that everyone thinks they are. They are highly intelligent, extremely loyal, and absolutely WONDERFUL companions.  "Dozer" (my pit bull) I admit, before I met my first pit bull, I fell for the media stereotypes and thought pit bulls were very aggressive dogs that you wouldn't want to turn your back on. But, the very first pit bull I met was one of the most wonderful dogs I had ever known. I did my research, met some happy pit bull owners, and completely changed my view of the breed. Now I love them and am doing everything I can to help people look past the stereotypes that have tarnished this breed's reputation. So, if I can change with some simple research and knowledge, why can't everyone? DO YOUR RESEARCH, PEOPLE. It will truly open your eyes. The pits need all the help they can get!
